the collective brain project
The collectivebrain project is essentially a search engine of people and places that represent (or relate to) creative and rational typologies. The collectivebrain is then a social network focused on helping individuals find creative and/or rational inspiration (sometimes unconventionally) in the city of New York. This way, the network is dedicated to strengthening and balancing both lateral and vertical thinking abilities by generating cross-disciplinary links that help deepen our individual ideas and goals, and create a holistic (or collaborative) approach to everyday activities and concerns.
The site aims to facilitate access to information about people and places that may be difficult to find readily on the Web and in one form or another allows people to build their personified map and network of interest by exploring and seeking inspiration outside the limitations of their traditional domain or discipline.
Site functionalities:
- Information can be retrieved by searching a name, address, or keyword (ie, library, John Smith, gallery, auditorium, 13th street); and can be filtered by categories of rational, creative, or both.
- By becoming a member of this network, users are able to see how many members have visited a specific typology and what other connections have been made. This allows users to view their visited data in a way that expresses graphically their personal creative/rational ratio as well as the collective ratio resulting from the overall dynamics of the network.
